Becoming a Consultant

Consultant with BookYou can become a Peer Writing Consultant, regardless of your major, if you have completed ENGL 1102 and are a strong writer (A’s and B’s) with an interest in working with people to improve their writing.

Upon the recommendation of a CSU faculty member, you will be invited to enroll in ENGL 3256: Peer Writing Consultation, a three-credit hour course in which you will receive theoretical and hands-on training in peer tutoring techniques. If you earn an A or B in the course, you will be eligible to work in the Writing Center in subsequent semesters as a paid consultant.

A student interested in becoming a Peer Writing Consultant should ask a current or former CSU professor to send a recommendation to Dr. Noreen Lape
