Appointments

Writing ManualHow do I make an appointment?

  • We accept walk-in appointments, but we also invite you to stop by and schedule an appointment by signing your name on the white board. Most consultations last thirty minutes; they begin and end on the hour and half-hour.

  • You can also access Writing Center services online, but you must allow for at least a 48-hour turnaround. (If you submit a paper online on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., you may not get it back until Thursday.)

  • We ask that you sign up for no more than ONE consultation per day.

  • Please be on time! If you are more than five minutes late and there are walk-in clients waiting, you will forfeit your appointment.

  • Although we will consult with you about grammar and usage errors, we are not a proofreading service. So please don’t ask us to correct your errors for you.

What should I bring to my appointment?

It would help us immensely if you could bring

  • a copy of the professor’s assignment and any notes you took that explain the assignment;

  • your prewriting or rough drafts, although these are not required;

  • any necessary materials – pen, paper, textbook, research sources, etc.

Hurry! Writers will be consulted with on a first come, first served basis!
