Welcome to the Department of English

English, one of Columbus State University's largest departments, offers three tracks leading to the Bachelor of Arts in English:

• English with Emphasis in Literature
• English with Emphasis in Professional Writing
• English and Secondary Education.

What they all have in common is their application to almost any field of employment and their emphasis on communication skills. Through the reading of texts, the writing of papers and class discussion on various topics, our majors learn to synthesize, analyze and think critically. They gain cultural awareness, historical perspective and clarification of values.

Woodall Hall 143 is the main department office. The department chair’s office is Woodall Hall 152. We welcome the opportunity to share information about our major programs, minor programs, and student clubs and organizations.
